Dianne Burkhardt
I try to depict the sense of energy a place has and the impact it has on me emotionally. Certain spaces seem to exude a warmth and welcoming embrace while others seem to repel. There is a collective memory that is held in each place and it influences our own observation and experience of it. When the energy is strong enough, it causes us to pause and reflect on our own condition and, in that way, changes us.
After completing an undergraduate degree in sculpture and art education, Dianne Burkhardt taught classes at Milwaukee Area Technical College. She returned to the University of Wisconsin to complete her MFA degree in Drawing and Painting and also studied in Europe. She held a teaching position at Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids MI prior to relocating to Arizona. She currently teaches at Paradise Valley Community College as well as Shemer Art Center and Brio Art Center.
Her work has become a part of the United States Forestry Department in Washington D.C. and has toured with the Design Competition for the Little Bighorn Monument. Dianne has won numerous regional and local competitions and continues to produce work for galleries and private collections.
