Joseph Marshall
I work mainly in relief printing. I obtain the strong graphic nature in my work by having excellent control in the medium. I enjoy both lino and wood blocks, using the lino for large areas of black or color and incorporating the wood grain into the image. I use strong and large ground/image (black/white) interplay for work that is visually striking. My work mirrors my interest in iconography and narrative story telling. Being raised Catholic and drawn toward all types of narrative art is the fountain on which much of my work is built.
